"To keep it real you gotta make it real! So we made this album of original Melbourne Hip Hop for you all" Tjimba Possum Burns of TJIMBA and the YUNG WARROIRS said releasing their debut album titled "WARRIOR FOR LIFE". The ten track album is out now on Blackwing Music through Sound Vault Records and in JB HI FI, Leading Edge stores, Shock Exports and all good Indies around Australia. Already familiar to the KnD and Triple J audiences with his song "Hunters and Gatherers" Tjimba and his brother Narjik Day Burns and cuz Danny Ramzan have come out with a very high standard recording featuring ten new songs that have set the bar for Indigenous Aussie Hip Hop. Like the title track "Warrior For Life" the songs tell how Aboriginal youth can 'hold your head up 'cos there's always something good out there' and overcome the crap and oppression with music and direction. The songs were produced over a year as Tjimba and Danny learned to make their own beats using Fruity Loops and other free software. Tjimba and Narjik then wrote 'Things are Gonna Get Better' as part of a school project in Shepparton and the songs just streamed out from there. The tracks were recorded on a home studio then transferred to the acclaimed Studio One for mixing and Stepford Studio for mastering. The engineers there were blown away by the songs and how the tracks were coming up so fresh and original. They all got their phone books out to help introduce the Yung Warriors to their music industry contacts. The sound is uniquely Australian and unmistakably relevant
today, expressing how indigenous Australians are fronting up to the
Hip Hop scene with a classic debut. Check it out on the airwaves and
in the shops. |
