HALF THE EFFORT TWICE THE EFFECT Cat# SV05816

Half the Effort Twice the Effect was very much geared
towards the U.S. market, hence the very west coast sound, beautifully
crafted by the wonderful Louie Shelton.
The band had been together for a few years by this stage,
and was very settled. Boasting the talents of David Hircsfelder, Virgil
Donati, Ross Inglis and Brian Hamilton, made it an absolute dream for
me every time we played.
Now having this out on CD means that a lot of people who
were not around at the time or aware of this band, can finally discover
the PCB.

BAC2BASIX Cat# SV0450

Peter's new album 'bac2basix' is a slight diversion from
the slick soulful sound we have come to love and expect from Peter.
Peter has gone back to his roots, as a boy growing up
in country, Peter's influences both musically and lyrically are the
overwhelming sentiment of this record.
Peter say's its all about the songs; this is much more
a singer/songwriter album, with the inference being on simplicity, basic
instrumentation and a story to be communicated.
It's very much an easy album to listen to, with a fine
balance that interweaves country/soul and folk influences.
This album really highlights the fact that Cupples is
defiantly not a type cast artist, this is serious work that has wide
appeal, and will defiantly open up new markets for the ever evolving
cupples.
Bac2basix has a unique charm about it, the album is very much about
the songs, and the stories, sit back and enjoy the journey 'bac2basix'.

FEAR OF THUNDER Cat# SV0450

After not hearing this album for many years, it's amazing
how the studio memories come back. Tommy Emanuel's heart wrenching solo
on 'Never know what you got', Roger McLachlans ripping bass riff on
'Fear of thunder', David Hirschfelder and David Jones in full flight
on 'Here we are', the late great Mike (Kelly) Clarke, the James Jamieson
of Australian bass playing.
After doing four albums with 'Stylus, this was my first
solo record. Stylus was a wonderful journey and musical outfit, but
I was keen to expand musically with this project, in hindsight I probably
expanded too much, as it was a difficult record to promote. It didn't
seem to fit into any of the pigeonholes. Polygram US said it was a publishers
dream and a record company's nightmare, anyway that's all history now,
as always you will have the final say.
I want to thank Paul O'gorman, Phil Dwyer and Universal
for allowing me to re-release this '81 montage on CD for the first time.
I have been asked over the years, what is 'Fear of thunder'
about? Simply it's about facing your own demons, and knowing you can
rise above them.
Please Enjoy

HOME GROWN Cat# SV05816

Home Grown is the current CD Peter has out. It came about
by a suggestion from Rick Price that he do a CD of his own arrangements
of other people's songs, as he had always enjoyed the unique-ness in
which Peter had treated other performers songs.
Now this is no new concept, as many artists have recorded such records,
but what makes this unique, is the fact that all the songs on this CD
are great Australian songs, icons of the Australian music industry,
songs that have become part of our Australian society, songs that have
a definite place in our musical history, songs that represent the Australian
way of life, the way we think, the way we feel, the very fibre that
makes us what we are.
When choosing songs for this album, Peters criteria was
to have songs that had meant something, either in his life i.e. 'The
road to Gundagai' as it was a song his parents played on the piano at
gatherings in the old shack were he grew up, to songs that touched a
nation i.e. 'Land down Under'. Also he wanted to choose songs from the
60's 70's 80's & 90's to show how music may seem to change, doesn't
really change that much, only the way we produce and arrange it.
Also he wanted to take people on a journey with the live
shows, as we travel though the decades. This CD he recorded himself,
the first project he has done where he has done it all himself. He knows
it possibly would have been better with other muso's on it, but he had
to prove something to himself, that he could do it, and there is a uniqueness
about a one person project, all the idea's coming out of one head, no
matter how strange that one head might be.
