Rehearsal Studio Closure
After 13 years of operations in West Melbourne the Rehearsal Studios closed in October. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the bands and artists that used the studios over the years for their support.

Even though the rehearsal studios have closed and we have closed the office in Roden St it is still business as usual for all of our other operations, just at a new location. The distribution and recording studio is now operating from Woodend and the CD replication and Graphic Design from Hoppers Crossing. Please check our new contact details on our contacts page.


Congratulations to Steve Romig who has just won the International Broadjam Joe Bonamassa Blues Competition with his song Way Down Homeless Blues, and to Jessica Paige who was recently announced in the Top 10 in the Pop Category for the New Artists to Radio Competiton (NA2R).

ARIA AWARD NOMINATIONS

Congratulations to COCO'S LUNCH and DAVID BRIDIE on their ARIA AWARDS nominations. COCO'S LUNCH have been nominated in the Best Children's Album category for their album Rat Trap Snap and in the Best World Music Album category for their album Blueprint. DAVID BRIDIE received two nominations in the Best Original Soundtrack/Cast/Show Album category for his albums Gone and The Circuit.

FATS WAH WAH will be performing live on PBS "Now Dig This", Fri Sept 7th 1 - 3 pm (band performing approx 2pm) and the new CD will be featured on the Chicken Mary Show on RRR on Mon Sept 3rd between 2 - 4 pm.

GEOFF ACHISON will be appearing on ABC Radio 774 with Richard Stubbs on Monday 27th August between 1.00 - 3.00 pm.

Melbourne singer songwriter, STEVE ROMIG, has just won the Blues/R&B section of the Billboard Song Contest. This brings his tally of international awards within the last year to three wins ( he also won the International Song Competition and the Unisong Competition Blues sections) and a finalist placing (The Independent Music Awards).


This Wednesday night 21st Feb @ 11:30pm on channel 31, Russ Kellets Melbourne is airing a feature show on DAVE OWENS, complete with all 5 clips and an interview. Also the following Tues night @ 11:00pm, AsylumTV have recorded him acoustically doing a version of 'One Pair of Hands' ( from the 1st cd)

STEVE ROMIG does it again
Melbourne’s Steve Romig has just scooped the Unisong International Blues/Jazz Award with his song “Way Down Homeless Blues”. This adds to his win in the International Song Competition (Blues) in March and his award in the national Musicoz Competition last December. Jim Keays, lead vocalist of the legendary Masters Apprentices, says: " I would have to say, without hesitation, that Way Down Homeless Blues is the best Blues/Gospel song I've heard in the last decade, if not the last 2 decades... and totally worthy of its recent 2 international song contest victories. Someone, please give this guy a record deal so the world can hear this prodigious talent."

Melbourne singer songwriter STEVE ROMIG has won the first prize in the Blues category of the prestigious International Song Competition run out of Nashville, the songwriting capital of the US, while Karl Broadie has taken first prize in the AAA/ROOTS/AMERICANA category. Almost 15,000 amateur and professional songwriters from 82 countries participated in the 2005 competition, consolidating ISC's status as the leading songwriting event globally. It is one of the few competitions to have a Blues category without putting it together with Jazz or some other style. Judges for the competition included Tom Waits, Steve Vai, Macy Gray, Joss Stone, LeAnn Rimes, Charlie Musselwhite, Bruce Iglauer (Founder/President, Alligator Records)and Thomas Brooman (Co-Founder/Artistic Director, WOMAD. Romig also won a national Musicoz Blues Award last December. His album "The Friday Sessions" is due out later in 2006 and on the strength of these awards it will draw interest nationally and internationally. His website is www.steveromig.com.

MATT ROBERTS' new (as yet unreleased) song 'Lay Down, Misere was placed in the top 10 of 278 entries in this year's Port Fairy Folk Festival National Songwriting Competition. The success of this song makes it a likely inclusion on Matt's next record for Sound Vault! Well done Matt


STEVE ROMIG's song "Way Down Homelesss Blues" is in the final 12 of the International Song Competition in the Blues Category. You can listen to the song and vote for STEVE in People's Choice Well done Steve and good luck.

on Foxtel will be featuring tracks from ALYCE PLATT'S new album Live from The Vault which will be in store at all JB Hi Fi stores on December 11th.


One bleak July night THE HORNETS TRIO, assembled an audient of selected friends, family and fans in the bowels of The Sound Vault and recorded their new CD. They simply recorded the thing, mixed it and here it is, naked and live, Loaded and Live at The Vault.


STEVE ROMIG is nominated in the Top 5 Blues Artists in The Musicoz Awards (Musicoz is the equivalent to the ARIAS for unsigned artists). His song "I've Got Your Body On My Mind" is responsible for the nomination and it will be on his album "The Friday Sessions" due for release early 2006. Steve is going up to Wollongong for the awards night on December 1. Last year, Steve's daughter, Jessica Paige, won the coveted APRA Songwriter Award in Musicoz.


ROSIE's new album Viewed (though a little distracted) is the latest CD to be added to the catalogue. As the man in the hat always says "do yourself a favour" and check it out.


TIMOTHY SLATER is the latest artist to join The Sound Vault with his release Inside Out. As his highly acclaimed music producer Richard Pleasance recognises, "Timothy's voice is the driving force of his music.
