Townsville's own Monica Weightman has delved into her indigenous heritage to come up with inspiration for her latest CD, Lost Generation.

Lost Generation has brought Weightman full-circle, having been based in Melbourne for the past few years, she has revisited her Queensland and Torres Strait Islander roots to produce the new CD.

The Album is already gathering rave reviews for its strong lyrics and Weightman's musicianship, her deep, earthy, sensual vocals and her accomplished guitar skills.
She masterfully moves between roots, soul, contemporary folk and jazz influences to produce an eclectic and captivating album.

Weightman and songwriter Carol Hasna have joined forces on the Lost Generation to write songs about a rediscovery of a lost indigenous family history, about a courageous journey through life, love and loss.
Hasna also collaborated with Weightman on her first album Calm Before the Storm.

No stranger to the spotlight, Weightman has toured with Brian Cadd and The Seekers. Earlier this year, she became the first indigenous artist in the history of the St Kilda Festival to perform on the main stage.
