MILK
"SHIPWRECKED AT THE ROYAL OAK"
CD RELEASE AND LAUNCH
FRIDAY 7th DECEMBER 2007
PALOOKAVILLE, 416 BRUNSWICK STREET FITZROY

In the winter of 2007, Milk headed off to the 160 year old Yapeen Pub in Central Victoria to record the bones of their second full length album, "Shipwrecked at the Royal Oak". In typical Milk style, it was fleshed out and finished in kitchens and bedrooms around Brunswick, capturing that true Melbourne sound, before finally being mixed and polished by Dave Nelson (The Killjoys).

The result is an accomplished recording that features rollicking, kick up your heels songs about pirates, the Australian gold rush and drinking in Melbourne pubs, spine tingling laments dedicated to activists trying to save old growth trees in Tasmania and dying rivers in Victoria, romantic serenades to dancing and ukuleles and gospel songs about love and real estate.

This new collection of songs was written and inspired by the band's travels around Australia playing at Folk festivals with the likes of Mick Thomas and the Sure Thing at Nannup in WA and Peggy Seeger at Cygnet in Tasmania, as well as late night story telling with locals, in rickety old country halls and pubs.

Distributed nationally through Sound Vault, and released on Melbourne indie label Payne Street Records, "Shipwrecked at the Royal Oak" will be available in all good stores from mid November, or via the web at www.paynestrecords.com

ABOUT MILK:
Australian festival favorites, Milk, features award winning songwriter, multi instrumentalist and vocalist, Helen Begley, one of Melbourne's finest upcoming singers, Emily Hayes, talented double bass player, Greg Craske and newest member lightning Teal Bain-Roben on the drums. Their gorgeous folk/roots arrangements combine vibrant harmonies and fine musicianship with energy and humor.
In 2004 Milk launched their critically acclaimed single "Souvenir" to rave reviews, then quickly followed it with the release of their first full length album "Golden Ring Life". Both CDs have received outstanding write ups in both Melbourne and Sydney's music press and regular national airplay, on both Triple J and community stations nationwide.

Milk's dedicated audience extends the nations girth, from Tasmania's tip, right around the mainland. Having played many of our top festivals, including Folk Rhythm and Life (VIC), Cygnet Festival (TAS), and Nannup Festival (WA), and widespread regional appearances, the band has made a great name for themselves, playing alongside the likes of Mia Dyson, Peggy Seer and Kristina Olsen. With awards and prizes firmly tucked into their belts, including a first prize in the Guilford Green Guitar songwriting competition, Milk's brilliance is not going unnoticed.
An exciting new schedule is planned for Milk. With more festivals booked, a new album to release, and further touring interstate, the band is packing up their bags and preparing for an excellent summer on the road.
