Josh Aitken is a singer songwriter who has over 15 years experience performing and song writing. On the evening of September 11, 2001 he launched his debut E.P titled "Remember the Day" at Revolver in Prahran. Musician's that accompanied Josh that evening, were Wilbur Wilde, Freddie Strauks (Skyhooks), Mark Grunden (Tumbarumba, Julie O'Hara, Chris Wilson) and others. From this E.P he won a competition "Best New Acoustic Talent" in Victoria and got the opportunity to play at the opening of The Burringbar Park on Australia Day in the local and live concert. Josh has had many of his songs chosen to be in an upcoming Australian Feature Film "Laughing Stock" written and directed by Geoff Davis. The film will be having a preview in February at The Irwin Theatre in Fitzroy and in March at The Wonthaggi Film Festival. Josh played in a band with Eve Von Bibra (Chantoozies), Natalie Carne and Justin Brady (Things of Stone and Wood). They had a residency in St Kilda on a Sunday. In 2003 he entered the Australian Music Song Competition with five songs in the acoustic category and all five made the top 100. In 2004/ 2005 he held a residency at the Elwood Lounge playing a weekly gig with his band. He has also played gigs at Revolver, The Vineyard, Bar 161, The Perseverance Bar and at many open mic nights around Melbourne. He has performed on the east coast circuit predominantly in Northern N.S.W as a solo artist and has played his song "Refugees" at many peace rally marches around Australia. He has performed at a number of music festivals, including the Easter "Mallacoota Festival" |
