Singer-songwriter Frank Jones from the legendary band The Whirling Furphies has released his second CD release ‘Where in the World’ through Sound Vault Records.

The CD features Melbourne’s A team of acoustic musicians including, producer and guitarist Jeff Burstin (Vika and Linda), George Butrumlis (Zydeco Jump) accordion , Peter Jones drums, Jen Anderson (Weddings Parties Anything) viola, Bruce Haymes (Paul Kelly) keyboards and Kavisha Mazzella backing vocals; it’s all underpinned by the rhythm section of Stephan Brown and Ian Clarke.

‘Where in the World heralds a new roots pop attitude on my behalf,’ said Jones..

‘It’s a bit different than my last record in that it’s less personal and more universal in it’s themes of love sought, lost, remembered and imagined. Where in the World is a bit rockier than anything I’ve done recently but still retains my folkie sensibilities on a number of tracks.

‘It’s a pop record for grown ups!’ Jones said.

‘Working with the Whirling Furphies I was lucky enough to win the 1998 Lawson Patterson Songwriters Award and two prestigious Labour Day Song Awards, hopefully this record takes my song-writing to that next step,’ Jones said.

Jones has been described by Paul Kelly as a singer of songs about, ‘people who walk down the streets I do, cross the same rivers, drink the same brand of beer. Frank writes locally, which makes him truly an international writer, I know the people in his songs…,

He has written the unofficial Melbourne anthem… ‘My Brown Yarra’ and hopes that maybe he can repeat that success with this CD.
