Drew Bowden – The Water’s Edge

Ex-patriate Kiwi Drew Bowden is making a name for himself on the Melbourne scene with the release of his latest self financed album, recorded in New Zealand with members of DD Smash. An engaging singer / guitarist, Bowden’s songs of acoustic based rock vary in feel from the accessible One Step and Crawl to the reggae flavoured Endless River. However it’s the albums last two tracks that are most convincing. Oblivion, edgy and ominous, finds Bowden pushing his voice to a new level, while the acoustic guitar / vocal arrangement of Changes works equally as well. On the strength of this album, Bowden has been signed to Melbourne label Sound Vault. Keep watching this space.
