Members of COW LAZY have worked with some of Australia's finest musicians and producers including Richard Pleasance. In 2003 they decided to track and produce an album in the comfort of their own homes. So while they were busy having babies, completing degrees, getting married, organising trips around the world and renovating their studio they thought they might as well record a CD as well. Luckily they were able to use their past experiences and call upon their many talented friends including Aria nominee, Nigel Derricks to mix and produce the final product and create some really solid material. Three talented song-writers in the band mean they've got
lots of rich material to choose from. They like to monkey around switching
styles of songs. The CD punches open with the rock anthem 'BABY I'M
ON FIRE
NO REALLY' and keeps rocking out with a cool ode to punk
legend Joey Ramone. Then it shoots off its axis into the beautiful soundscape
'SMOG' which heralds the next swirling tracks including the gorgeous
and haunting 'HALFWAY HOME'. |
And just when you think you've worked them out the band
jumps into some eccentric bluesy tunes and finally plays the sassy trump
card with 'WHO LOVES YOU'. A rare find of a band, great songwriting
and an original sound. Surprising. A breath of fresh air. 'THE BUTCHER'S DOG' from COW LAZY is now available in stores around Australia. |
